ELECTROLYSIS PRE & POST CARE

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

  •  Stay out of the sun and tanning beds for at least 48 hours to prevent skin irritation and increased sensitivity.

  • Inform your electrologist about any health conditions, medications or skin concerns you may have.

  •  Stop temporary methods of hair removal. These methods can disrupt the hair growth cycle, making electrolysis less effective. You can trim hair with scissors prior to your appointment if necessary.

  • Drink plenty of water during the days leading up to your session. Well-hydrated skin can help the treatment be more comfortable and it is better at conducting the electrical currents used in treatment. Avoid things that will dehydrate your skin, such as caffeine and alcohol.

  • Clean the treatment area thoroughly with a mild, fragrance-free soap. This ensures the skin is clean and free from any oils, lotions, or makeup that could interfere with the treatment.

  • Stop using retinoids, chemical peels, and other harsh skincare products for at least a week before your appointment.

  • For those susceptible to cold sores, or herpes simplex infections, a reactivation may occur following treatment. Consult your doctor for anti-viral medication prior to treatment

  • If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, we require a letter from your doctor.

  • Take an anti-inflammatory pain reliever about 30 minutes to an hour before your appointment.

  • Topical numbing cream is available for an additional cost.

AFTER YOUR TREATMENT

BEFORE YOUR TREATMENT

  •  Redness and slight swelling usually disappear after an hour or two but can last longer. You may apply ice wrapped in plastic to the treated area.

  • Avoid touching, scratching, or rubbing the treated area to help prevent the transfer of bacteria. This is critical to ensure proper healing and avoid infection.

  • Protect your skin from the sun by wearing sunscreen with a minimum 30 SPF. Skin may be more sensitive following electrolysis. Do not go tanning or get a sunburn on the treated area for at least 48 hours.

  • Do not wear makeup on the treated area for at least 24 hours. Avoid alcohol-based products, harsh soaps, strong exfoliants, deodorant, or other irritating skincare products.

  • Refrain from very hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, and vigorous exercise for 24-48 hours, as these activities can irritate the skin.

  • Keep the skin hydrated with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer, aloe vera gel or antibiotic cream to keep the skin hydrated and promote healing.

  • If you experience any unusual reactions or have concerns about the treated area, promptly communicate with your electrologist.

  • Remember, everyone's skin may react differently to electrolysis, so it's essential to follow the specific pre and post-care instructions provided by your electrologist. By adhering to these guidelines, you can maximize the benefits of your electrolysis treatment and achieve smooth, long-lasting results.

STANDARDS OF STERILIZATION

Our facility adheres to the recommended national standards for sterilization procedures in electrology.

We use sterile forceps, single-use, disposable probes, disposable examination gloves, liquid chemical sterilizer, fresh table paper or new sheets with each client and rigid sanitation methods before each client.

Our probes are single-use, individually wrapped, and pre-sterilized. They are immediately disposed of into a special Sharps Hazardous Materials Container after each client.
